More snow!

Well, Happy New Year! I awoke on January 1, 2009 to more snow. I feel like I am living in a Jack London or Bret Harte story. Will I ever see the ground again? Will I ever be able to sit under my patio awning or will it crash to the ground from all the snow? I fell asleep about 10 last night and awoke several hours later to some very ominous sounds. It sounded like someone was knocking on my house or mving heavy objects in my backyard. Then it hit me--my roof was caving in and these were the stress sounds, just before it gave way. I got up and went out the back door to check. Then I heard multiple fireworks going off and realized that it was midnight and everyone was setting of firecrackers.

This is me with my daughter and grandchildren. This has been a strange holiday season. My family left for Scotland on 12/11, my dryer broke and I had to buy a new one on 12/14 when it was 0 degrees, I had to put my old friend, Nick, to sleep on 12/13, snow started falling on 12/17 and has not stopped, I fell on 12/27 and thought I had broken my toe, x-rays show that it was not broken, just feels like it. I am counting the days until my kids get home on 1/28/09. I had a nice Christmas. My best friend, Al, and I went to the Davenport Hotel for a lovely dinner. The night before the hotel lost power and last night the skylight broke and crashed to the lobby floor. Good thing we went when we did!
